At ThermoInk, we make inks for packaging that need to perform under real production conditions. Based in Jacobs, Durban, we hire people who care about colour accuracy, clean process control, and getting the job out right the first time.

Work that supports packaging converters

Our day-to-day work supports packaging converters across South Africa, from Durban and Pinetown through to Cape Town, Gqeberha, Johannesburg and Pretoria. That means our team needs to understand print runs, production timing and the pressures that come with client deadlines and municipal supply interruptions. In a coastal base like Jacobs, humidity and temperature shifts matter too, so practical thinking is part of the job.

We look for people who can work carefully, communicate clearly and stay steady when a batch needs checking before it leaves the floor. If you like hands-on work and you are comfortable around coatings, inks, samples and production notes, you may fit in well here.

Roles we hire for as the business grows

We do not publish a fixed vacancy list on this page, because our hiring needs change with production schedules, new accounts and technical projects. When we do bring people on board, it is usually in areas where accuracy and follow-through matter most.

  • Technical sales and client support for packaging customers
  • Production and mixing support in the Durban base
  • Quality control and sample checking
  • Security ink and pattern support
  • Colour matching and laboratory work
  • Logistics and dispatch coordination for nationwide deliveries

If you have worked in printing, coatings, packaging, manufacturing or laboratory support, that experience can be useful. We also value people who learn quickly and can keep records properly, not just talk about process.

What a good ThermoInk team member brings

We work with colour systems, trial batches, drawdown panels and compatibility checks, so attention to detail is non-negotiable. A good fit is someone who can follow a specification, ask the right question and catch a problem before it becomes a waste issue. That mindset matters whether you are on the production side or working with clients.

We also value reliability. Packaging work often runs to tight windows, especially when press startup support or batch retain checks are involved. The right person will understand that small delays can affect a full production line, and will treat every handover with care.

  • Accuracy in measurement and record keeping
  • Clear communication with clients and team members
  • Willingness to work in a production environment
  • Respect for safety, handling and housekeeping standards
  • Interest in quality, colour consistency and testing

How your work connects to our services

Our team does more than mix ink. We support colour matching, threshold tuning, adhesion tests, rub resistance checks, UV verification setups, trial batch making and production troubleshooting. Each of these services depends on people who can think ahead and work methodically. A missing note or a poor sample can hold up a converter, so our people need to be practical and exact.

We also work on security pattern design and batch retain library control, which means confidentiality and neat record keeping are part of everyday work. If you enjoy a setting where technical detail really matters, you will probably find the work satisfying.

What you can expect from our Durban base

Our base in Jacobs, Durban is geared for production, testing and dispatch, with deliveries handled nationwide. That creates a workplace where people need to be organised and ready for a varied week. Some days are about lab checks and sample prep, other days are about coordinating loads for converters in other provinces.

We aim to keep the workplace practical and respectful. People are expected to show up prepared, keep work areas tidy and handle materials properly. Coastal conditions can affect storage and handling, so basic discipline around stock and process goes a long way here.

  • Hands-on learning in a specialised packaging environment
  • Exposure to technical support, production and logistics
  • Work that connects directly to South African packaging supply chains
  • A team based in Durban with reach into every major centre
